Music Policy
Revised 05.26.2019
It is VALHADEN's (hereinafter referred to as “VHN”) policy to ensure the most positive, productive, and safe work environment for all its employees. We care very much that you look forward to coming to work every day. Considering the uniqueness of each of our employees' taste in music, personalities, day-to-day mood, and interest in music, it is not without considerable thought that we have instituted a company-wide open-air music “library silence” with four (4) very important caveats.
#1 Please, by all means, use your headphones in the Office while at work! Use closed-over-ear headphones or in-ear headphones to ensure that others aren't distracted by music and/or your lyrics. In addition, we request that you listen to your music on your headphones at a lower volume so that you can still be aware of what's happening around you in the office and respond if and when you are called upon by colleagues or respond to your work phone. Having one earbud in or one of your headphones off is also a great option.
#2 Closed office. If the person who occupies the single occupant office permits it and all other visiting parties in the closed office (meaning the door is closed) are in accord with listening to open-air music, and the music is not loud enough to be heard outside the office, then it is permitted.
#3 Special cases. Open-air music is occasionally needed for special events. They may include but not be limited to after-hour office parties, employee birthday celebrations, and presentations of work material to large groups of employees. Only in these special cases can open-air music be used, and only for a limited time. Permission must be requested by a direct supervisor prior to the special event.
#4 Ambient music from Speakers. Is only permitted as long as there is a reasonable agreement among your colleagues about the music choices and the volume is acceptable to all those in listening distance.
** Prototype Shop Music use policy is posted in the Shop and is subject to change based on the specific zone’s “safety standards of manufacturing” and the specific equipment operated at the time of listening. **
