Our Founder:

Shawn Ian Bruce’s life's work is Invention and entrepreneurialism and is heavily featured going back generations on both sides of his family tree. He has created companies from the ground up since childhood selling a broad range of products throughout his years. Adding to his years of professional experience in design and product development is his family's engineering, sales, and inventing tradition steeped in over 120 years of Innovation (Jacuzzi) and another 90 years in the graphic design and fine Art world (Bruce).

He studied Biochemistry, Astro-Physics and Illustration but his true love is new product development. Livestock and mixed crop farming, general and specialized construction, military and survival training also informs his work and company management style. Group and solo exhibitions throughout the world have been proud to showcase his work. 

Workplace: 

Rear Buildings - 538 Highland Street, Pasadena, California, 91104 USA.

• On-site: All work will be conducted in person at the above location. The intellectual property of VHN and that of it’s clients is paramount to the continued success of VHN.  When you enter, please close the gate on your way in and out. The two pets on site, Harvey & Clara, need to stay inside while coyotes remain out.

• Hybrid: On occasion employees will be permited to partially work at home. This may be due to sickness, travel, or other unexpected work or personal event. Secure unreleased confidential intellectual property shall not be removed from VHN property or digitally transmitted through email, or remote server access. Connection through VHN google drive is permissible when the data is not confidential or proprietary. 

• Remote: for employment to be fully remote it must not contain access to any pre-patent material, unreleased copyright or trademark data, etc. Approval must be provided by the Founder/Owner or written approval from a member of upper management for employment to be switched to remote. 

Parking:

If you’ve been assigned a permanent parking spot you’ll be given the proper badge and signage for your vehicle and a parking location. In addition you may have been given a remote to access your parking space. If you don’t have an assigned parking space please park on Highland Street and come through the gate on the property by foot toward the rear of the property. Our Office building is located behind the house and shop at the center of the property. 

Orientation:

Your first day of work is your orientation day. Please expect to do many one time activities including but not limited to meeting with your direct supervisor to review all your responsibilities, including this employee handbook, the locations of all pertinent materials and equipment, and the people you will be working with. In preparation for your first day please come prepared to work but also come with questions about your responsibilities and these documents. This is your opportunity to learn (as is every day!) so ask lots of questions.
